Starting July 2024, the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) enables digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, and long-term travelers to live and work in Thailand legally. The DTV is Thailand's response to the growing global trend of remote work and digital nomadism, offering a flexible visa solution for those who want to enjoy Thailand's lifestyle while working remotely for overseas employers or clients.
The DTV is also available for individuals participating in Thai "Soft Power" activities such as Muay Thai training, Thai cooking courses, Thai language study, and other cultural immersion programs.
Who Can Apply
- Remote workers employed by companies outside of Thailand.
- Freelancers and independent contractors working for international clients.
- Digital nomads who work online and wish to reside in Thailand.
- Individuals participating in Thai Soft Power activities (Muay Thai, Thai cooking, Thai massage, Thai language study, etc.).
- Spouses and dependents of primary DTV holders.
Documents Needed
- Valid passport with at least 6 months validity and recent passport-sized photograph.
- Proof of current location (must apply from your country of primary residence).
- Financial stability: minimum 500,000 THB in a bank account.
- Employment contract or freelance portfolio authenticated by the embassy or consulate.
- For Soft Power activities: enrollment confirmation from the Thai institution offering the course or program.
- For dependents: marriage certificate, birth certificates, or other relationship documents (authenticated).
- Health insurance covering the duration of stay in Thailand.
Validity
- Valid for up to 5 years from the date of issue.
- Stay up to 180 days per entry.
- One-time 180-day extension per entry (applied at a Thai immigration office).
- After the extension expires, you must exit Thailand but can re-enter the next day for a new 180-day stay.
- Multiple entries allowed throughout the 5-year validity period.

The DTV visa fee ranges from 10,000 THB to 43,000 THB depending on the Thai embassy or consulate where you apply. Fees may vary by country.
