Diplomatic & Official Visa

For diplomats and officials on government missions in Thailand.

The Diplomatic and Official Visas are issued to foreign diplomats and government officials who are undertaking official missions in Thailand. These visas are also extended to personnel of international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Diplomatic Visa

The Diplomatic Visa is issued to individuals who hold diplomatic passports and are:

  • Diplomats posted to serve at embassies, consulates, or diplomatic missions in Thailand.
  • Individuals on short-term diplomatic missions to Thailand.
  • Personnel on non-posting UN missions or other international organization assignments.
  • Heads of state, ministers, and other high-ranking officials visiting Thailand on official business.

Official Visa

The Official Visa is issued to individuals who hold official or service passports and are:

  • Government officials posted to serve in Thailand on official duties.
  • Individuals on short-term official missions.
  • Personnel of international organizations (UN, IAEA, OPCW) on assignment in Thailand.
  • Technical advisors and consultants working with the Thai government.

Documents Needed

  • Completed visa application form.
  • Diplomatic or official passport with at least 6 months validity.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Note Verbale from the sending state, embassy, or international organization.
  • Official mission order or assignment letter.

Validity

  • Multiple entries: 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years depending on the nature and duration of the mission.
  • Stay per entry varies based on the specific assignment.
  • No fee is charged for Diplomatic and Official Visas in most cases.
