The Transit Visa (TS) is designed for travelers who have a layover in Thailand exceeding 12 hours, pilots and crew members of commercial airlines or cargo ships, and athletes or sports personnel coming to Thailand for organized sports events.

This visa allows a short stay in Thailand while in transit to another destination, or for the purpose of participating in specific activities during the transit period.

Purpose of Visit

  • Travelers in Transit: For individuals whose layover in Thailand exceeds 12 hours and who wish to leave the airport during the waiting period.
  • Crew Members: For pilots, co-pilots, flight attendants, and ship crew members who need to stay in Thailand between their scheduled duties.
  • Athletes and Sports Personnel: For athletes, coaches, and support staff participating in organized sports events or competitions in Thailand.

Documents Needed

  • Passport biodata page with at least 6 months validity.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Document indicating your current location.
  • Travel booking confirmation showing onward travel from Thailand.
  • Proof of accommodation during the layover in Thailand.
  • Financial proof: sufficient funds for the transit stay.
  • For Crew Members: Employment certificate from the airline or shipping company.
  • For Athletes: Letter from the organizing body or sports federation confirming participation in the event.

Validity

  • Single Entry: 3 months from the date of issue. Stay up to 30 days per entry.
  • Two Entries: 6 months from the date of issue.
  • Three or Four Entries: Available for crew members with frequent transit through Thailand.

Extensions may be possible depending on the circumstances and at the discretion of the immigration officer.
