Religious Activities Visa (Non-Immigrant R)

The Non-Immigrant Visa "R" is designed for individuals who wish to engage in religious or spiritual activities in Thailand. This visa covers missionary work approved by the Department of Religious Affairs, as well as participation in spiritual retreats, meditation programs, temple-based community service, and other faith-based activities.

Thailand is home to a rich tapestry of religious traditions, and this visa enables foreign nationals to participate in or contribute to religious life in the Kingdom.

Purpose of Visit

  • Missionary Work: Conducting missionary activities with prior approval from the Department of Religious Affairs of Thailand.
  • Spiritual Activities: Participating in meditation retreats, spiritual programs, or temple-based activities.
  • Community Service: Engaging in community-building activities organized by religious institutions.
  • Religious Study: Studying religious texts, practices, or traditions at Thai religious institutions.

Documents Needed

  • Passport biodata page with at least 6 months validity.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Proof of current location.
  • Financial evidence of at least 30,000 THB.
  • Approval letter from the Department of Religious Affairs or the Immigration Bureau of Thailand.
  • Letter from the religious organization or temple in Thailand sponsoring the visit.
  • Travel itinerary and proof of accommodation.

Validity

  • Single Entry: 3 months from the date of issue. Stay up to 90 days per entry.
  • Multiple Entry: 1 year from the date of issue. Stay up to 90 days per entry.
  • Extensions are available at the discretion of the immigration office.
  • Re-entry permit required if leaving Thailand during the visa validity period.
